Wie bang is voor de komst van Screwfix naar Nederland, kan misschien even opgelucht ademhalen. Moeder Kingfisher sluit alle vestigingen van de succesformule in Duitsland.
Volgens de Britse retailpers InsightDIY heeft Kingfisher bevestigd alle 19 vestigingen van Screwfix in Duitsland te zullen sluiten. De omzet groeide weliswaar met 8,3% (9,1% oud-op-oud), maar het verlies bleef tegelijkertijd op een hoog niveau. Dat beliep £16 mln in 2018 tegenover £18 in 2017.
Screwfix blijft online wél actief in Duitsland.
Verklaring van de moederorganisatie: "Screwfix’s experience in Germany highlighted the importance of staying true to its core model and of extensive testing. We are embedding this experience into our plans and conducting extensive validation for market entry opportunities in France and Poland, initially via an online presence. These are both markets where the Group has existing scale, infrastructure and in-depth market knowledge.
